Aston Barclay wins Motor Trader remarketing award

Aston Barclay has been awarded Motor Trader’s Remarketing Company of the Year Award for 2019.

The accolade was presented to Neil Hodson, CEO of Aston Barclay Group, at the Motor Trader Awards dinner held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 10 July before an audience of 1,000.

Aston Barclay triumphed amongst a record number of category entries this year, which included fellow finalists AA Cars, BCA and Manheim.

The judges highlighted the construction of Aston Barclay’s highly modern and technologically advanced Wakefield auction facility; its acquisition of The Car Buying Group (TCBG) which paved the way for the development of e-Valuate; and the consistently updated and enhance Buyers’ App as key contributors in securing the award.

The panel was impressed to see that from January 2018 to January 2019, Aston Barclay saw a 92% increase in the number of bids submitted via the mobile App, rising from 6.7% of the total to 14.4%. The judges commented, ‘This fuels a competitive wholesale market, releasing capital from vehicles faster for fleets and dealers.’

Neil Hodson, said, ‘To receive this award is testament to, what was, another turn-key period for us as we continue to pursue our strategy of connecting customers to cars.

Following online submissions, the awards went before a panel of independent judges which this year included motoring journalist, Martin Gurdon; Cazana director of valuations, Rupert Pontin; and NFDA Truck and Van Division head of operations, Stephen Latham.

The awards, acknowledged as the most prestigious awards event in the vehicle retailing calendar, were presented by Motor Trader editor John Kirwan and actor, writer and presenter Alexander Armstrong.
